Bar & Restaurant Insurance in Charleston, SC
Liquor liability and general liability insurance for Charleston bars, restaurants and taverns, from a Charleston-based team that knows the Lowcountry hospitality business.
The Charleston market
Charleston’s Bars and Restaurants Deserve Better Insurance
Charleston has one of the best food and drink scenes in the country, from King Street bars and downtown fine dining to neighborhood spots in Park Circle, West Ashley and Mount Pleasant. It’s also one of the hardest places to insure a business that serves alcohol.
South Carolina’s $1 million liquor liability requirement has pushed premiums up across the Lowcountry, and some well-loved local businesses have closed with insurance costs as part of the reason. One Park Circle shop said its liquor liability premiums had grown larger than its rent. Charleston operators need coverage that’s priced on how they actually run, not on a checklist.
Why it matters that we’re local
Insurance That Understands Charleston
We’re based in Charleston, and our program was built around the kinds of businesses that make this city what it is.
We see your operation in person
Instead of pricing from a form, we take the time to understand how your business runs: your hours, your crowd and how you manage service. For Charleston businesses, that often means a visit from someone who knows the neighborhood.
We know a brunch show isn’t a nightclub
Charleston’s themed brunches, live music and patio crowds can look risky on paper. We look at what actually drives liquor liability, how much alcohol is served per guest, rather than declining a business because of the entertainment it offers.
Fellow operators have a say
Through Community Underwriting, other hospitality owners help review who joins the program. In a city where operators know each other, that local insight is one of our biggest advantages.

What Charleston Operators Need to Know
Charleston businesses follow the same state rules as the rest of South Carolina under H.3430, which took effect January 1, 2026:
$1 million in liquor liability coverage if you serve alcohol on-premises after 5 p.m.
State-approved server training for anyone who serves alcohol, within 30 days of hire.
An approved ID scanner at the door if you serve between midnight and 4 a.m., which covers many King Street and downtown bars.
